Internal Audit Quality & QAIP

Build a quality assurance and improvement programme that helps internal audit evaluate its work, report results and improve deliberately.

When it helps

  • The internal audit function is establishing or refreshing its QAIP
  • Ongoing monitoring and periodic internal assessments need a consistent method
  • Annual quality results need to be consolidated and reported
  • An external assessment is approaching and internal records need to be organised

What you receive

  • A proportionate QAIP framework and assessment approach
  • Documented internal assessment results and improvement actions
  • An annual internal quality-results reporting pack

What we do

  1. Design

Set objectives, measures, responsibilities and a workable assessment cycle.

  2. Monitor

Establish ongoing monitoring using evidence from everyday audit activity.

  3. Assess

Plan and perform periodic internal assessments with documented conclusions.

  4. Report

Consolidate internal quality results for annual reporting and improvement planning.

  5. Improve

Track actions and confirm whether changes are taking effect.

Scope and responsibilities

Ongoing monitoring and periodic internal assessments feed annual reporting of internal quality results. The independent external assessment required at least once every five years is separate and is not offered as this service.
